September is here and it’s back to the school routine. Early wake ups, busy mornings, a traffic filled school drop off, some child free time (usually filled with house work, or office work), traffic filled school pick up, after school clubs, home, dinner, bath, bed and repeat!

It can be a bit crazy getting back into the swing of things but we’re here to help ensure that your kids go back with all the things they need as well as being comfortable and stylish. 

The Coat:

It isn’t cold yet but just you wait… it’ll get there… and then you’ll need The Coat. Different schools have different rules but in my experience it usually needs to be dark and plain. But more importantly for the kids it needs to be comfortable, cool, and practical (preferably with pockets). Here are our top picks for the essential ‘Back to School Coat’.

Comfortable and warm, this coat is dark blue to comply with the school rules but as soon as the bell rings show that vibrant personality but reversing it into a bright red gilet. 

This warm blue coat is a classic crowd pleaser. With fur trim on the hood it is perfect to stay warm in cold weather. It also has lots of pockets that are fastened with poppers or a zip. 

On a more traditional note this grey coat will fit every need. With 2 front pockets and a subtle tartan hint in the lining this coat will keep your little one warm all Winter. 

If your school is a bit more flexible with their rules, try this fun flowered coat. Its padded for extra warmth, it’s fastened with a zip and has two front pockets that are also fastened with poppers. And to give you some added flexibility the hood is removable. 

The Backpack 

A cool backpack is essential. Whether it’s to carry lunch, books or toys every kid needs something fun and practical to use on their way to school.

The Other Necessities

Hairbands – For girls these are always important. Whether you use a scrunchie to tie up a ponytail or a headband to keep the fringe out of her eyes, make sure you’ve got spares because some are bound to go missing.

Pencil Case - When I was at school I had at least three pencil cases. My pencil case and the stationary inside were the easiest way for me to show a bit of my personality.

Coloured Pens – (WARNING: These may need their own pencilcase) These are a must. Even a small selection is a necessity for make work look fun and interesting as well as those lessons where there’s colouring.
