Something to do ... Enjoy a day out in West Sussex and see the Autumn colours coming in.

On 19th September (evening) and 20th September (all day) the New Horizons Appeal Autumn Gift Fair is being held in aid of St. Catherine's Hospice.

The actual timings are

19th September 6:30pm - 9:30pm  (champagne reception)

20th September 9:30am - 4:30pm

Knepp Castle is a 3500 acre estate in West Grinstead, just south of Horsham.  Within the grounds is a wildlife reserve with wild ponies cattle, deer and pigs roaming free in the grounds.  It should be a lovely day out, provided the weather is on side, to walk, for little ones to play safely outside and do some shopping.

At Mister Master & LIttle Miss we would be really pleased to welcome you to our stand where you can touch and feel the items you see online.  Up close they are much nicer!  plus it would be lovely to meet you.

(If you see anything online you would like to see 'in the flesh', let me know via info@mmlm-kids.com and I will bring it to the Fair.)

If you come to our stand and are our Newsletter subscriber, whisper the code MMLMKids@Knepp  and you will qualify for 15% off all purchases.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Catherine

Lets Pretend - Games for Toddlers

The Letter Carrier - The Postman

Equipment:  Envelopes, stamps (stickers, Christmas seals, etc. - all optional)

How to Play:

1.         Decide who is the letter carrier and who is receiving letters

2.         Determine what will be the mailbox or delivery drop-off point.  If you are playing outside it might be a tree trunk or fence railing.  Inside areas could include a chair, table or shelf.

3.         Letter carrier "drives" or walks to mailbox area and leaves a letter.  She/he then continues on her/his round delivering imaginary mail.

4.         Other payer comes to "check her mailbox" and finds the letter.

5.         Receiver of the letter exclaims "Oh, a letter from grandma!" or "oh, no! Just another bill"

6.         Receiver then puts a new letter into the mailbox that she wants the letter carrier to pick up

7.         Letter carrier returns to mailbox and picks up the letter to go to the post office.  Letter carrier can also deliver another letter to receiver if she wants.

8.         Letter carrier returns to main post office (kitchen? tree stump?) and picks up more letters to take out on her "route"

9.         At this point you can change places and repeat steps 1 through 8, or continue with steps 10 - 15.  If this is your first time playing Letter Carrier, change roles now, before you add more steps, will help everyone become more familiar with the game.

10.       On her next round the letter carrier could deliver an imaginary package (or a box of some sort).  In this case she must go to the door and knock.

11.       When receiver answers, letter carrier must have her sign for the package.

12.       After letter carrier leaves, receiver decides to write a letter, stamps it, and places it in her mailbox for the letter carrier to pick up.

13.       This time the letter carrier ignores receiver's house!

14.       Receiver must run "outside" and call to Letter Carrier, "Hello, excuse me ... I have a letter here for you to pick up!"

15.       Letter carrier then explains that there were no letters to be delivered so he/she didn't stop.

16.       No switch roles and go back to step one.

Variations:

There are many variations to this game and each player can go inventing and adding their own touch.  That is what pretending is all about.  You can try delivering mail in the rain and snow or the receiver could have a huge dog that chases the letter carrier.

Butter Biscuits

28/04/2018 10:13

Butter biscuits are perfect for children to help mummy make. The best part is cutting the dough into shapes and decorating them with flakes or stars or sprinkles just before it goes into the oven. They are light and yummy to eat. Perfect for school lunch boxes or snacks.

You will need:

- 2 large bowls
- beater
- 2 baking trays

Ingredients:

- 1/2 Cup butter - softened
- 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 Cups and 2 tbsp flour - sifted
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
(Optional 1/4 Cup chopped walnuts)

Instructions:

1. Turn oven on to 375*F (190*C)

2. Take 2 baking trays and smear lightly with butter

3. In a large bowl beat together butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg, milk and vanilla and continue beating until smooth

4. In a separate bowl sift flour.  Add baking powder and salt

5. Add flour mixture to butter mixture in two parts and mix to form a soft dough. (Optional : add chopped walnuts).

6. On a flat surface (marble top or similar) sprinkle a little flour so the dough mixture doesn't stick. Roll dough out to approx 1/2cm thickness

7. Take different shapes and cut the dough into shapes.

8. Decorate with sprinkles.

9. Place biscuits on the buttered baking dish and place in the oven for 10 minutes.

This recipe should make approximately 4 dozen biscuits

Boboli- Spring & Summer 2018

19/03/2018 20:00

We are so excited to show you the brand new Spring and Summer collection we've got from Boboli. It's fun, casual, comfortable and full of bright patterns for your kids to wear this year.

Boboli was formed in Barcelona, Spain in 1984 and is a firm favourite in Spain and other cosmopolitan cities that love colour and style in their kids clothes. Each season they offer a great collection for kids aged 0-12 years.

As a family run company Boboli puts kids and adventure at the heart of their designs and want everyone to enjoy wearing their clothes as much as they enjoy designing them. This year we've got more bright colours, with a beautiful orange featuring strongly as well as a nautical theme among many of the items. So if you're little one loves the water you've come to the right place!

Advent Calendar

22/11/2017 14:43

It’s that time of the year again! Carols are on the radio, decorations have appeared in store windows and the kids are making Christmas cards at school. To celebrate the lead up to Christmas we’re doing a social media Advent Calendar on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Just like last year, every day a new item will be 50% off until midnight. Every morning we will post this item on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the sizes we have available and the special price. But you’ll have to hurry! We only have one of each size available on our website and then it’s gone for good. So as soon as you see something you want, click on the link in our bio, come here to the website and buy it. Discounts end at midnight each night.

All our stylish kids clothes are ethically made and hand checked to ensure quality. Once we receive you’re order we’ll gift wrap it and send it to you (in a box with a pretty ribbon- perfect for underneath the tree). Warning- we can't guarantee that orders placed after 16th December will arrive in time for Christmas.

If you DON’T have social media, don’t panic! Just send us an email or comment below and we will send you a daily email with information about the item on offer. If you DO have social media, we recommend that you turn on your notifications so you don’t miss a great opportunity!

We can’t wait to see your family wearing our stylish clothes so tag us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook @mmlmkids or send us your pictures (with your permission) for us to use on social media and/or the website. We love to hear from our customers and hope you enjoy your clothes as much as we enjoy choosing them. Merry Christmas!

This simple burgundy jumper is one of my absolute favourites. From Portuguese brand Knot the quality is impeccable. This beautiful colour is so different to most of the clothes you find on the high street and the contrasting elbow patches give it a hint of fun. It’s easy to coordinate and beautiful to wear everyday or for special occasions.
